Working primarily within the existing footprint, this existing residence was updated with a playful modern minimal aesthetic. The new contemporary kitchen used stained-grade wood Snaidero cabinets made in Germany. The existing fireplace incorporated a colorful smooth cement plaster facade, brushed stainless steel plates and clear sealed concrete slab hearth. The interior stairs were re-clad with clear finished maple treads with a stainless steel guardrail. New aluminum windows and sliding glass doors open onto exterior decks with painted metal guardrails with horizontal cable rails. The 2nd floor was remodeled with a reconfigured master bedroom suite and a new master bathroom with a custom frameless glass shower enclosure. A mix of recessed lights and curved low voltage halogen lighting tracks with dimmers are used in the living area to adjust the lighting to the appropriate levels.
