Inverness Residence
Inverness, CA

Our design focused on modernizing the living areas of this existing single-story contemporary ranch style residence. A new family room addition doubled the size of the living area to total nearly 1,000 square feet. The new contemporary kitchen design is oriented toward a view through the trees of Tomales Bay, and is also now open to the living room with a shared cathedral ceiling. Besides the ceiling, the living room has new double-glazed floor-to-ceiling fixed glass windows and a new smooth cement integral-color plaster finish on the existing fireplace. The family room addition has an angled wall to avoid running into a heritage fir tree outside, and along with its sloped cathedral ceiling, creates a small alcove to the northside with a large window framing the same Bay view. Outdoor patio spaces to the west and east are partially enclosed by the walls of the residence connecting the interior living areas to the forested landscape outside.

“Okamoto Saijo Architecture consistently listened to my concerns, was responsive to phone calls and emails, both from my contractor and me, and kept budget in mind.  Their drawings were accepted by Marin County without need for corrections and resubmissions.”
