SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES E. 12TH ST. PEOPLES PROPOSAL OAKLAND, CA
This People’s proposal was the culmination of months of community organizing and advocacy around the use of this public parcel adjacent to Lake Merritt. In August 2015, the E12th WishList People’s Planning Forum brought an estimated 200 residents from across Oakland to build a community vision around housing needs, affordability, and security, as well as area residents’ desires for access to community, commercial and green/open spaces. Eric Saijo, along with many other volunteers, and Satellite Affordable Housing Associates assisted the community in turning their vision into a concrete proposal.
