ABOUT

Okamoto Saijo Architecture (OSA) focuses on innovative designs in housing, sustainable design and neighborhood planning.Founded in 1991 by Paul Okamoto and Eric Saijo, OSA is a small design firm currently withoffices in both Oakland and San Francisco. Both partners are licensed California architects, each with over thirty-five years of architectural experience.OSA is registered in San Francisco as a SLBE and in Oakland as an LBE.

Okamoto Saijo Architecture has developed a combination of skills that balances innovative and functional design with project administration. Our design approach is based on integrating building design, budget, cost control and project administration with local building & planning approval requirements. We have consistently demonstrated the ability to achieve project goals and budgets for our clients.

A value-added design skill is the firm’s experience in "green building" dating back to the early 1990’s. We have designed, researched and implemented energy-efficient building systems, passive and active solar designs, and used recycled, nontoxic and resourceful materials. We have also specified a diverse range of "green" materials in our projects, such as PISE earth walls, cellulose insulation, certified lumber, cement fiber siding, low VOC paints and stains, wheat and straw boards panels and cabinets, and recycled glass countertops.
